28-05-2022 – The Department of Immigration on Friday, 27th May 2022, apprehended One Hundred and Sixty (160) persons of different nationalities for various immigration offences during a clean-up operation carried out in several parts of Lusaka. The clean-up operation aimed to rid the city of illegal immigrants. During the screening exercise, the Officers released Twenty-Seven (27) persons upon production of proof of legal immigration status in Zambia. However, they mandated One (01) person to report to Immigration Headquarters for further investigations. Meanwhile, the Department detained One Hundred and Thirty-Two (132) pending other formalities. The operation is one of many planned enforcement interventions for Lusaka and throughout the country.

We wish to commend members of the public for their continued collaboration with our Officers in enforcing immigration law by reporting suspected cases of illegal immigration. However, in the same breath, we wish to caution those who have continued to aid, abet and harbour illegal immigrants to desist from such acts because they are illegal and punishable under the Immigration and Deportation Act No.18 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.
