24-06-2022 – The Chipata Regional Immigration Office has secured the conviction of a 27-year-old Chinese national, Lu Ke for illegal entry and unlawful stay contrary to section 11(1) and 11(3) of the Immigration and Deportation Act number 18 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia. Immigration Officers apprehended Lu Ke on 19th June, 2022 at a named Guest House in Chipata following a tip-off from members of the public. This was after he illegally entered Zambia from Malawi on dates unknown but between 15th and 19th June, 2022.
He was sentenced to pay a fine of K 13,000 in both counts or in default 9 months simple imprisonment. He has since paid the fine, pending further immigration formalities.
